In a restaurant yesterday, a family with several kids and a small baby sat down to eat. The baby soon became very unhappy, wailing at the top of her lungs. Mom and dad tried to quiet her, but to no avail. They looked around and obviously decided they didn’t want to persist in creating a loud environment that might bother others in the restaurant. So they gathered up their plates and the whole family moved to an outdoor table. Now that’s an act of kindness – they adjusted their behavior for one reason: consideration for others. That was the Golden Rule in action. It was really cool to see.
