I was at a gathering of some high-powered professionals. A panel was speaking about their experiences in the field, and a couple of the panelists went out of their way, during their remarks, to be extraordinarily kind. How did they do this? By specifically mentioning, by name, one or two of the professionals in the room and describing a terrific thing that professional did that was motivated by thinking about others, not themselves. The panelists were kind by giving praise to someone else for being kind! It was awesome. Those bits of public praise can literally change the world because they enlarge and encourage peoples’ hearts. What a great day that was!
